Alabama Section of the American Water Resources Association

The Alabama Section of the American Water Resources Association was established in 1987 to provide a common forum in which professionals in water resources and related areas can meet, discuss, and exchange ideas pertaining to all aspects of water resources research and management. To encourage and or assist in:

 

1. Promoting research and technological, social, economic, and legislative advances in all aspects of water and related resources planning, utilization, management, and development.

2. Collecting and disseminating information, knowledge, and data concerning all aspects of water and related resources planning, utilization, management and development.

3. Relating the needs of management, educational institutions and governmental agencies for specialized services and guidance to qualified professionals and consultants in water and related resources and environmental problems.

4. To promote the rational and objective protection, development, utilization, and management of water resources.

AL-AWRA typically considers a rotation of stakeholder groups amongst officers to involve a balanced representation of state, federal, private/industry, and academia.

An annual officer election takes place each September at the Alabama Water Resources Conference.

AL-AWRA officers serve a 6-year consecutive term on a rotating basis:
Year 1 – Membership
Year 2 – Secretary
Year 3 – Treasurer
Year 4 – Incoming President
Year 5 – President
Year 6 – Former President

BECOME A MEMBER

There are two ways to become a member of the Alabama Section of AWRA:

1. Register for the annual Alabama Water Resources Symposium or

2. Submit a membership form along with annual dues ($20) at any time

ANNUAL ALABAMA WATER RESOURCES CONFERENCE & SYMPOSIUM

The annual Alabama Water Resources Conference & Symposium (ALWRC) is held the week of Labor Day in Orange Beach, Alabama. This event is partnership between AL-AWRA and the Auburn Univerity Water Resources Center. Day 1 of this 3-day event is a Symposium offered by the AL-AWRA.
