Opportunity to learn about well water resources in Alabama and receive a free educational bacteria screening of your well water: A workshop is being offered by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System – Private Well Program to residents of the Winston and Lawrence County area. The event is being held on May 16 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church<\/strong> (11450 AL Hwy 33. Moulton, AL 35650).<\/strong>\u00a0 Learn about well water testing, the basics of<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>well<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>stewardship, and how to<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in<\/span>terpret<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>water<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>quality test results. Register at aub.ie\/northwestwells. <\/a><\/span>The first 30 participants who register will also receive a free educational bacteria screening of their well water.<\/p>\n The Alabama Cooperative Extension System – Alabama Private Well Program (APWP) is an educational resource available to private well owners throughout Alabama. We want to learn about your groundwater to better understand risks and develop resources to help you maintain your well water quality. Workshop attendees can speak directly with water researchers and APWP staff and learn about the program.<\/p>\n Tentative Workshop Schedule:\u00a0<\/b><\/u> Light refreshments provided.<\/p>\n Note for participation in the free bacteria screening:<\/b><\/em><\/u><\/p>\n You will need to collect your sample container from\u00a0either\u00a0<\/strong>the Lawrence County Extension Office\u00a0OR\u00a0<\/strong>the Winston County Extension Office\u00a0by May 16, 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lawrence County Extension Office<\/strong>\u00a0is located at Lawrence County Agricultural Center 13075 ALA-157, Suite 6 Moulton, AL 35650 The Winston County Extension Office\u00a0<\/strong>is located at\u00a0John Nichols Building 24714 Hwy. 195, Rm 1 Double Springs, AL 35553 The day of the workshop, plan to take a water sample. Details about collecting a sample are located in a packet\u00a0sent upon registration<\/b>. If possible, this sample should not be taken before 3 PM on the day of the workshop. The samples must be run within 24 hours of collection, so it is important to label your sample container with the date and time of collection. Bring your sample container and the water questionnaire (sent upon registration) to the workshop.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Only your name, email, phone number, and mailing address are required to register for this event. We ask for optional information so we can better understand our effectiveness in serving all Alabama citizens and for reporting general, anonymous statistics to our federal and state funders.
