A workshop is available to private well owners in around Talladega and Clay Counties, Alabama.<\/p>\n

Opportunity to learn about<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>well<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>water<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>resources<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Alabama and receive a free bacteria screening of your<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>well<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>water<\/span>: A\u00a0<\/span>workshop<\/span>\u00a0is being offered by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System – Private\u00a0<\/span>Well<\/span>\u00a0Program to residents of the Talladega and Clay Coutny area. The event is being held on February 28, 2023 at the Wynn Building (82 Court Sq., Ashland, AL, 36251). Free educational bacteria sample screening is available to the first 30 registrants. Any resident with a private<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>well<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>is eligible to participate. Learn about<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>well<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>water<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>testing, the basics of<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>well<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>stewardship, and how to<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in<\/span>terpret<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>water<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>quality test results. Register at\u00a0<\/span>aub.ie\/eastcentralwells\u00a0<\/a>Registrants must obtain sample bottles at either the<\/span>\u00a0Talladega County Extension Office or Clay County Extension Office.<\/span>\u00a0Sampling<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in<\/span>structions will be sent to registrants.<\/span><\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/span>The Alabama Cooperative Extension System – Alabama Private Well Program (APWP) is an educational resource available to private well owners throughout Alabama. We want to learn about your groundwater to better understand risks and develop resources to help you maintain your well water quality. Workshop attendees can speak directly with water researchers and APWP staff and learn about the program.<\/div>\n

\n6:10 PM – Basics of well owner stewardship
\n6:20 PM – Groundwater of Talladega and Clay Counties
\n6:40 PM – Contamination of groundwater
\n7:00 PM – Bacterial testing, interpreting test results, and recommended treatment
\n7:20 PM – Questions
\n7:30 PM – Adjourn<\/p>\n
