Join us for a one day training about erosion and sediment control (ESC) best management practices outlined in the Alabama Blue Book (Alabama Handbook for Erosion, Sediment Control and Stormwater Management). Morning presentations will cover the importance of ESC BMP’s on protecting natural resources, followed by a discussion on quality engineering, installation, and maintenance. Specific focus will be given to permiter controls, sediment barriers, sediment basins, and establishing proper vegetation.<\/p>\n

Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n

For local engineers, consultants, developers, contractors and municipal stormwater\/enforcement officials to:<\/p>\n

  • Become familiar with the Alabama Handbook for Erosion, Sediment Control and Stormwater Management\u2019s (Blue Book<\/strong>) history and application.<\/li>\n
  • Increase understanding of the impact of erosion and sediment on natural resources.<\/li>\n
  • Gather design knowledge regarding Alabama Blue Book Best Management Practices.<\/li>\n
  • Gather inspection and maintenance knowledge required by the Alabama Blue Book<\/li>\n
  • Learn about research on effectiveness of different BMPs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
