In September of 2024 the AUWRC was invited to partner with the AU Department of Theater and Dance for their showing of “Wellesley Girl”, a show that explores the resilience of a Massachusetts community facing dire water quality issues. <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n The AUWRC provided a educational display for the patrons of the performance which contained helpful resources and information about harmful algae blooms, citizen science water quality monitoring, and drinking water safety. An estimated 820 attendees viewed the show and associated AUWRC materials.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/aaes.auburn.edu\/wrc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/10\/IMG_2929-3-scaled.jpg” title_text=”IMG_2929 3″ _builder_version=”4.27.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n Wellesley Girl<\/span><\/span> takes place in a <\/span>dystopian <\/span>future<\/span> in 2465<\/span> <\/span>where only a few citizens <\/span>remain<\/span> in an enclave of four communities in Massachusetts,<\/span> enclosed within walls to protect themselves from <\/span>the outside world<\/span>. The play tackles issues of governance, decision-making, and survival, mirroring the delicate balance we must <\/span>maintain<\/span> with natural resources like water.
