This year marks the culmination of a three year celebration called &#8220;Alabama 200&#8221;  led by the Alabama Bicentennial Commission to recognize the people, places, and events that form our rich history.  Dr. Bill Deutsch&#8217;s recently  released book, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/alabamariversbook.org\/\">Alabama Rivers: A Celebration &amp; Challenge<\/a>, <\/em> that highlights the  human history and natural wonders that have defined Alabama is endorsed by Alabama 200.  <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/alabamariversbook.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.auburn.edu\/aww\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/alabama-rivers-book-cover-791x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3534\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:left\">The Bicentennial Commission is supporting the development of  the <em>Alabama Rivers Curriculum<\/em>, created by AWW Staff and Dr. Deutsch, and a series of workshops. The curriculum will assist educators to impart <em>Alabama River <\/em>related knowledge, inspiration, and challenges  with young students throughout the state.  It is correlated to the AL Course of Study Standards for Social Studies and Science for grades 4-7, but is also applicable to upper grades.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:left\">The Alabama Rivers Curriculum Workshops are open to educators including teachers, volunteers, and informal educators. Those who complete the training will be prepared to use the curriculum with their own students and to share it with other educators within their organization. Workshops will range from one to two days depending on location. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Participants\nwho complete an Alabama Rivers Book Workshop will receive:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Certification as a facilitator of the Alabama Rivers Book Curriculum <\/li><li>A copy of the book, <em>Alabama Rivers: A Celebration &amp; Challenge<\/em><\/li><li>Access to online digital resources <\/li><li>Continuing Education Units from Auburn University<\/li><li>Some food and lodging support <\/li><li>Additional River related programming specific to workshop location including a Delta Boat tour, kayaking, and more.&nbsp; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/aaes.auburn.edu\/wrc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/04\/Workshop-List-Graphic-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3569\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:left\">For additional info or to register visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alabamawaterwatch.org\/environmental-ed\/educator-workshops\/\">http:\/\/www.alabamawaterwatch.org\/environmental-ed\/educator-workshops\/<\/a> or call the AWW Office 334-844-4785.
