SUMMARY:Madison County Well Water Quality Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Madison County Well Water Quality Workshop: October 23\, 2023 @ 6 PM-7:30 PM\nRegistration is free but required at: aub.ie/madisonwells \nThis workshop is available to private well owners in Madison County\, Alabama. Attend this workshop and learn about:\n– Geology of Madison County\n– How geology can influence water quality\n– How contamination may travel through the ground\n– Well water testing in Alabama \nIf you are having specific mechanical issues with your well system\, you will also be given contacts for treatment specialists and certified well/pump installers in the area. We will spend the majority of the time discussing water quality topics about well water. \nA free educational bacteria screening is available to the first 12 registrants who pick up sample bottles. Supplies are limited and only 12 bottles are available. \nTentative Workshop Schedule:\n6:00 PM – Sign in\, welcome\, and program introduction\n6:10 PM – Basics of well owner stewardship\n6:20 PM – Groundwater of Madison County\n6:40 PM – Contamination of groundwater\n7:00 PM – Bacterial testing\, interpreting test results\, and recommended treatment\n7:20 PM – Questions\n7:30 PM – Adjourn \nLight refreshments provided. \nNote for participation in the free bacteria screening: \nYou will need to collect your sample container from the Madison County Extension Office by October 19\, 2023. \nCALL BEFORE DRIVING TO THE EXTENSION OFFICE TO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE BOTTLES. \nThe Madison County Extension Office is located at Charles Stone Agricultural Center\,\n819 Cook Avenue\, Huntsville\, AL 35801.\nOffice hours are from 8:00 – 12:00; 12:30-4:30 Monday through Friday\nCall (256) 532-1578 for questions. \nThe day of the workshop\, plan to take a water sample. Details about collecting a sample are located in a packet sent upon registration. If possible\, this sample should not be taken before 3 PM on the day of the workshop. The samples must be run within 24 hours of collection\, so it is important to label your sample container with the date and time of collection. Bring your sample container and the water questionnaire (sent upon registration) to the workshop.
