Presenters will discuss how stream restoration practices can be used to protect infrastructure and land value\, improve habitat\, and water quality\, and provide recreational opportunities for the community. DESCRIPTION:  \nDesigning Bioretention:\nHow cities in Alabama are designing\, installing\, and funding green infrastructure projects\nThursday\, April 20 2023 – 8:30am-2:30pm\nCASIC Building\, Auburn University\n\n\nREGISTRATION  \n\nIn this workshop\, representatives from the Cities of Auburn and Opelika and Auburn University will present case studies on how they designed\, installed\, and funded urban bioretention projects and other nature based stormwater solutions. \nPresenters will discuss reasoning\, planning efforts\, lessons learned\, and suggestions for others interested in bioretention design and integrated stormwater management. The workshop will take a ‘learn with us and from us’ approach\, using case studies and practical examples that can apply to other locations. After a catered lunch\, participants will be invited to tour the newly designed and installed bioretention cell sites at the HC Morgan Pollution Control center. \nThis workshop is for City engineers\, planners\, designers\, engineering firms\, landscape architecture and engineering students\, MS4 managers\, and other city representatives across Alabama that hold stormwater decision making roles. \nThe workshop is hosted by the Auburn University Water Resources Center and is funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation via a grant to the City of Auburn and partners. \nCost – $60 – Fee waived for municipal employees\nEligible for .5 Continuing Education Units\nLunch included

DESCRIPTION:Register Today \nThis one-day grant writing workshop\, led by Kimberly Richardson Consulting\, will cover researching grants\, request for proposal selection\, project narrative development\, budget creation\, program cultivation\, partnership development\, and long term success planning. It includes handouts\, resource materials\, and small group exercises. \nThis workshop is intended for anyone interested in learning about the basics of grant writing\, including environmental groups\, watershed groups\, nonprofits\, or small organizations hoping to find funding for special projects.
