This workshop is designed to be interactive using presentations that encourage discussions\, scenario-based small-group breakouts\, and hands-on activities. The workshop is structured to accommodate regional considerations within the content. Attendees will gain the knowledge and skills to evaluate their water systems for risk factors that may affect the safety of fresh produce for human consumption. \nWhere: Wiregrass Research and Extension Center Headland\, AL 36345\nWhen:  September 22nd\, 9 am – 5 pm (lunch will be provided)\nCost: $25 \n  \nRegistration will close on Friday\, September 15th at 4 pm. For cancellations\, please email efs@uga.edu. Cancellations made a week or less before the event will not be refunded. Cancellations made prior to a week before the workshop will be issued a full refund. All workshops and courses are subject to cancellation by Food Science and Technology Extension. In this case\, full refunds will be issued to all who have paid registration fees. The event is being held on May 16 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church (11450 AL Hwy 33. Moulton\, AL 35650).  Learn about well water testing\, the basics of well stewardship\, and how to interpret water quality test results. Register at aub.ie/northwestwells. The first 30 participants who register will also receive a free educational bacteria screening of their well water. \nThe Alabama Cooperative Extension System – Alabama Private Well Program (APWP) is an educational resource available to private well owners throughout Alabama. We want to learn about your groundwater to better understand risks and develop resources to help you maintain your well water quality. DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for homeowners that have private wells that would like to get their water tested for microbial contaminants\, as well as a wide array of other contaminants (iron\, nitrate\, magnesium\, etc.) \nAvailable to Barbour\, Dale\, Henry\, Houston\, and Russell County residents of Alabama. \nRegistration: $100 for a water test + $12/meal.  \nMeal includes: Grilled chicken breast plate with 2 sides – $12 per person (mashed potatoes\, roasted vegetables) \nTo Register: Interested clients must visit their respective County Extension office. Provide your name\, number\, and email to the County office\, and collect your microbial sample container and instructions. \nWater tests included: total coliform\, E. coli\, pH\, hardness\, phosphorus\, potassium\, calcium\, aluminum\, boron\, chromium\, copper\, iron\, magnesium\, manganese\, molybdenum\, nickel\, silica\, sodium\, zinc\, chloride\, fluoride\, nitrate-nitrogen\, sulfate\, phosphate\, electrical conductivity\, alkalinity\, carbon dioxide. \nPayment must be brought to the event on March 15.
