Workshops are offered free of charge and carry Continuing Education Units (CEUs) with Auburn University. Training combines the use of an environmental game that simulates a stream bioassessment, with the field collection of macroinvertebrates to calculate a biotic index of stream BIOquality.<\/p>\n            \n          <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Recertification<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>GWW monitors are required to attend a monitoring recertification session about a year after the original certification; and then every two years if they remain active (monitor at least nine months per year). During these sessions, monitors are updated and evaluated on water testing techniques. Recertification session are&nbsp;conducted by an GWW Trainer and each monitor&nbsp;is observed&nbsp;to review techniques&nbsp;and questions are answered as they perform each test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alternative Internet-based or mailed exercises are also offered for experienced monitors to complete recertification. Some monitors may attend a full certification workshop to complete their recertification and stay updated in sampling techniques.&nbsp;Monitors who enter and access GWW data online can review their certification status when they log on the website.
