January 3 – Classing data (micronaire, length, strength, uniformity) is complete for the 2021 Cotton OVTs.  In this update, classing data has been added for:

  • EVSRC Full Season Irrigated and Non-Irrigated OVTs
  • WREC Short Season Irrigated and Non-Irrigated OVTs
  • TVREC Short Season Irrigated and Non-Irrigated OVTs
  • GCREC Full Season and Short Season Non-Irrigated OVTs

December 10- Classing data (micronaire, length, strength, uniformity) is available for:

  • PARU full season non-irrigated
  • PARU short season non-irrigated

December 8 – Classing data (micronaire, length, strength, uniformity) is available for:

  • EVSRC short season irrigated and non-Irrigated OVTs
  • WREC full season irrigated and non-irrigated OVTs
  • PARU short season irrigated OVT

December 6 – Lint yields are available for the short and full season non-irrigated OVTs at the Gulf Coast Research and Extension Center (GCREC) in Fairhope.

Lint yields are available for the full season irrigated and non-irrigated OVTs at the EV Smith Research Center (EVSRC) in Shorter.  These two trials had to be replanted which resulted in a very late planted full season trial.  This resulted in low yields that do not reflect the varieties’ true potential.

Yield data has been updated for the EVSRC short season irrigated OVT.

December 1 – Lint yields are available for the short season irrigated and non-irrigated OVTs at the Tennessee Valley Research and Extension Center (TVREC) in Belle Mina.

November 30 – Lint yields are available for the short season irrigated and non-irrigated OVTs at the Wiregrass Research and Extension Center (WREC) in Headland.

November 23 – Lint yields are available for the short season irrigated and non-irrigated OVTs at the EV Smith Research Center (EVSRC) in Tallassee.

Seed cotton yields are available for the short season irrigated and non-irrigated OVTs at the Wiregrass Research and Extension Center (WREC) in Headland.

November 19 – Classing data (micronaire, length, strength, uniformity) is available for both short season OVTs at the Tennessee Valley Research and Extension Center (TVREC) and the full season irrigated OVT at the Prattville Agricultural Research Unit (PARU).

Lint yields are available for both short season OVTs at the PARU.

Seed cotton yields are available for the short season irrigated OVT at the EV Smith Research Center (EVSRC).

November 16 – Lint yields are available for the full season irrigated and non-irrigated OVTs at the Wiregrass Research and Extension Center (WREC) in Headland.

Seed cotton yields are available for the short season irrigated and non-irrigated OVTs at the Prattville Agricultural Unit (PARU) in Prattville.

November 11 – Seed cotton yields are available for:

  • Short season irrigated & non-irrigated OVTs at the Prattville Agricultural Research Unit (PARU).

  • Full season non-irrigated OVT at the Tennessee Valley Research and Extension Center (TVREC) in Belle Mina.
  • Full season non-irrigated OVT at the Prattville Agricultural Research Unit (PARU) in Prattville.
  • Full season irrigated OVT at the PARU.

November 1 – Seed cotton yields are available for the full season cotton OVTs at the Prattville Agricultural Unit (PARU) in Prattville.

Subsamples from these trials are being processed to determine percent lint.  Lint yield will be posted once samples are processed and data is available.

October 25 – Lint yield data is available for the full season non-irrigated OVT at the Tennessee Valley Research and Extension Center (TVREC) in Belle Mina.

Seed per pound at planting is also available.

September 16 – As we prepare for harvest, please familiarize yourself with the new data delivery system.  There are several demonstration videos that walk through the features of the AU variety selection platform and can be used for reference.

Cotton Extension Pathologist, Amanda Scherer, has been taking disease ratings across the state on some of the cotton variety trials.  Target spot ratings for the full season irrigated trials at the Prattville Agricultural Research Unit (PARU) and the Wiregrass Research and Extension Center (WREC) are now available on the variety selection platform.
