Refunds will only be given until Friday, June 24.<\/strong><\/em><\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>Trainers: AWW Staff\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Contact\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Email: awwprog@auburn.edu\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Workshop Contact Phone: 334-844-4785\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Workshop Date &amp; Location:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, June 29, 2022<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>10am &#8211; 5pm<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Benjamin Moore<br \/>\n<\/strong><b>Pell City, AL<\/b><\/p>\n<p><strong>Workshop Description:<\/strong>\u00a0Teachers and informal educators including 4-H Agents are invited to participate in this full day in-person training that will provide hands-on education about volunteer monitoring, water quality standards, and water pollution, and stream biomonitoring as presented in AWW&#8217;s curriculum,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/aaes.auburn.edu\/alabamawaterwatch\/4-h-aww-curricula\/\">Exploring Our Living Streams Curriculum (EOLS)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The curriculum correlates to the Alabama Course of Study Standards for Science (Grades 4 and 6), Biology (Grades 9-12), Environmental Science (Grades 9-12), Life Science (Grade 7), and Earth Science (Grade 6).<\/p>\n<p>During the workshop, educators will conduct stream biomonitoring on Fishing Creek in Pell City.<\/p>\n<p><b>Participants will receive:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Certification as an Exploring Our Living Streams Educator<\/li>\n<li>Certification as an Alabama Water Watch Stream BioMonitor<\/li>\n<li>Copy of Exploring Our Living Streams: Stream Biomonitoring Curriculum<\/li>\n<li>Access to online Digital Resources<\/li>\n<li>Continuing Education Units from Auburn University and Professional Development Credits through PowerSchool<\/li>\n<li>Lunch during the workshop<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><u><strong>On June 14th\u00a0<\/strong><\/u><\/div>\n<div>Participate in the Kick-Off Zoom from 12-1 pm. This is not required for certification but will help you navigate the training process and meet AWW Staff. Use the link and instructions you receive via email following the Kick-Off Zoom to enroll in the Online Course, Introduction to AL Water Watch (1 hour to complete).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><u><strong>By Midnight on June 27th<\/strong><\/u><\/div>\n<div>Complete the self-paced, online coursework for the Introduction to AL Water Watch.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong><u>On June 29th<\/u><\/strong><\/div>\n<div>Attend the in-person Field Day at Benjamin Moore in Pell City where you will demonstrate your ability to conduct monitoring tests under the observation of an AWW Trainer.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><u><strong>Field Day Schedule:\u00a0<\/strong><\/u><\/div>\n<div>9:45 am Check-In<\/div>\n<div>10:00 am Welcome, Introductions, and Overview of 4-H AWW<\/div>\n<div>10:30 am Practices of Stream Biomonitoring @ the Stream<\/div>\n<div>12:30 pm Lunch Break &amp; Special Presentation from Benjamin Moore Staff about their Environmental Education Programs<\/div>\n<div>1:00 pm Principles of Stream Biomonitoring in Classroom<\/div>\n<div>3:00 pm Activities from EOLS Curriculum<\/div>\n<div>4:30pm Next Steps<\/div>\n<div>5:00 pm Wrap Up!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Participants will be expected to follow COVID-19 guidelines outlined by the CDC during the workshop.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Alabama Cooperative Extension System (Alabama A&amp;M University and Auburn University) is an equal opportunity educator and employer.
