The curriculum will assist educators to impart Alabama rivers related knowledge\, inspiration\, and challenges to young students throughout the state. \nThe curriculum correlates to the Alabama Course of Study Standards for Social Studies\, Science\, Social Science\, Arts and more for grades 4-7\, but is adaptable for any grade! \nDuring the one-day workshop\, participants will receive instruction on how to use the curriculum with their students. DESCRIPTION:October 2022 Alabama Water Watch Monitoring Training  \nRegistration is required: https://auburn.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_2aChDxf7DLyhLuu \nTraining Description: Become a certified Volunteer Monitor through this hybrid (online and in-person) training opportunity! Available certifications include AWW Water Chemistry Monitoring and Bacteriological Monitoring. You must complete each of the steps outlined below to receive your monitoring certification.\n \nFollow these steps to get started: \n1.  Register for training through this form by September 20th.\n2.  Select the monitoring type(s) for which you would like certification through this form.  \nOn September 20th \n\nParticipate in the Kick-Off Zoom from 12-1 pm. This is not required for certification but will help you navigate the training process and meet AWW Staff.  \nUse the link and instructions you receive via email following the Kick-Off Zoom to enroll in the Online Courses required for the certification type(s) you requested.   \n\nBy Midnight on October 4th  \n\nComplete the self-paced\, online coursework for the monitoring type(s) of interest.  \n\n\nIntroduction to AL Water Watch – This course is required for all monitoring types and must be completed to unlock all other AWW Online Courses. (1 hour) \nBacteriological Monitoring Course (90 minutes) \nWater Chemistry Monitoring Course (2 hours) \n\nOn October 7th \nAttend the in-person Field Day at the Cheaha State Park Interpretive Center where you will demonstrate your ability to conduct monitoring tests under the observation of an AWW Trainer. SUMMARY:Talladega National Forest Water Monitoring Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Alabama Water Watch\, in partnership with the USDA Forest Service\, is excited to expand our water monitoring project in National Forests in Alabama by conducting a workshop in the Talladega National Forest.  \nThis project’s goal is to promote citizens to discover the National Forests in Alabama by monitoring their waters. Volunteer monitors will gather water chemistry and bacteriological monitoring data on select stream locations within the National Forests in Alabama. \n\nThis workshop will have virtual and in-person components and will cover information related to the water environment\, forests and watershed health\, pollution\, water quality standards\, and data management. Workshop participants will be trained and certified in AWW Water Chemistry and Bacteriological Monitoring. \n\nThis workshop will consist of:\n\n1. A 1-hour Kickoff Virtual Meeting (via Zoom) on Thursday\, September 16\, 2021 – 5-6PM \n2. Self-paced\, online coursework for AWW Bacteriological Monitoring and AWW Water Chemistry Monitoring (to be completed during the 2 weeks prior to the Field Day) \n3. A Field Day at Cheaha State Park on Friday\, October 1\, 2021 from 9am – 4pm.\n \n*You must complete all three components to receive your AWW monitoring certifications.\n\nDuring the in-person Field Day (10/1/21) of the workshop\, participants will head outdoors to conduct Bacteriological and Water Chemistry monitoring practices and visit pre-selected monitoring sites in the Talladega National Forest.\n\n\nREGISTRATION CLOSED
