DESCRIPTION:Alabama Water Watch Bacteriological and Water Chemistry Monitoring Training – Hartselle \nREGISTRATION REQUIRED!\n\nTraining Description: Become a certified Volunteer Monitor through this hybrid (online and in-person) training opportunity! Available certifications include AWW Water Chemistry Monitoring and Bacteriological Monitoring. You must complete each of the steps outlined below to receive your monitoring certification.\n\nFollow these steps to get started: \n1.  Register for training through this form by September 23rd\, 2025. \n2.  Select the monitoring type(s) for which you would like certification through this form. \nOn September 23rd \nParticipate in the Kick-Off Zoom from 12-1 pm. This is not required for certification but will help you navigate the training process and meet AWW Staff. \n\nUse the link and instructions you receive via email following the Kick-Off Zoom to enroll in the Online Courses required for the certification type(s) you requested.\n\nBy Midnight on October 8th \nComplete the self-paced\, online coursework for the monitoring type(s) of interest. \n\nIntroduction to AL Water Watch – This course is required for all monitoring types and must be completed to unlock all other AWW Online Courses. (1 hour)\nBacteriological Monitoring Course (90 minutes)\nWater Chemistry Monitoring Course (2 hours)\n\nOn October 10th\nAttend the in-person Field Day at Water Works Center for Environmental Education in Hartselle\, AL where you will demonstrate your ability to conduct monitoring tests under the observation of an AWW Trainer. \nLocation:\nWater Works Center for Environmental Education\n5514 Hwy 31 S\nHartselle\, AL 35640 \nField Day Schedule: 9am – 4pm\n9am – 12pm Bacteriological Monitoring Training\n12pm Lunch Break\n1pm – 4pm Water Chemistry Monitoring Training \nYou will receive additional details for each of these steps closer to the workshop date. \nThe Alabama Cooperative Extension System (Alabama A&M University and Auburn University) is an equal opportunity educator and employer. DESCRIPTION:DATE CHANGE | Webinar will now be Wednesday\, October 22\, 2025 from 12-1pm   \nLearn how to interpret water chemistry water quality test results (specifically turbidity\, Secchi disk depth\, and salinity) and adapt a monitoring plan to better identify sources of nonpoint source pollution. \nJoin us for this one-hour webinar where we will discuss how to adapt your water monitoring plan when you find a water quality issue through water chemistry testing. We will provide an overview of how to use the Online AWW Water Data Tools to understand AWW water chemistry monitoring data\, how to conduct strategic sampling to narrow down potential pollution sources\, and how you can seek out solutions to water quality issues. \nThis webinar will be most applicable to AL Water Watch Water Chemistry Monitors and members of their watershed groups who utilize the data.
