CONTACT AWWPROG@AUBURN.EDU TO JOIN THE WAITLIST. \nAlabama Water Watch Bacteriological and Water Chemistry Monitoring Training – Orange Beach \nTraining Description: Become a certified Volunteer Monitor through this hybrid (online and in-person) training opportunity! Available certifications include AWW Water Chemistry Monitoring and Bacteriological Monitoring. You must complete each of the steps outlined below to receive your monitoring certification. \nThe Volunteer Trainer for this workshop is Jackie McGonigal. You can contact her at jmcgonigal@orangebeach.gov if you need to get in touch. \nWhat is Water Chemistry Monitoring?  \nWhat is Bacteriological Monitoring?  \nProfessional Development Hours will be available through PowerSchool for educators who complete training. For more information\, please email awwprog@auburn.edu. \nFollow these steps to get started: \n1.  Register for training through this form by July 22\, 2025. \n2.  Select the monitoring type(s) for which you would like certification through this form. \nOn July 22nd 2025 \nParticipate in the Kick-Off Zoom from 12-1 pm. This is not required for certification but will help you navigate the training process and meet AWW Staff. \n\nUse the link and instructions you receive via email following the Kick-Off Zoom to enroll in the Online Courses required for the certification type(s) you requested.\n\nBy Midnight on August 6th \nComplete the self-paced\, online coursework for the monitoring type(s) of interest. \n\nIntroduction to AL Water Watch – This course is required for all monitoring types and must be completed to unlock all other AWW Online Courses. (1 hour)\nBacteriological Monitoring Course (90 minutes)\nWater Chemistry Monitoring Course (2 hours)\n\nOn August 8th\nAttend the in-person Field Day in City of Orange Beach Wind and Water Learning Center where you will demonstrate your ability to conduct monitoring tests under the observation of an AWW Trainer. \nLocation:\nCity of Orange Beach Wind &Water Learning Center\n26233 Canal Rd\nOrange Beach\, AL 36561 \nField Day Schedule:\n9 am – Water Chemistry Monitoring Session\n12 pm – Lunch Break\n1 pm – Bacteriological Monitoring Session\n3 pm – End of Training \nYou will receive additional details for each of these steps closer to the workshop date. \nOnly your name\, email\, phone number\, and mailing address are required to register for this event. SUMMARY:WEBINAR - Understanding & Advancing AWW Water Chemistry Monitoring: pH\, Alkalinity\, and Hardness
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, August 12\, 2025 from 12-1pm   \nLearn how to interpret water chemistry water quality test results (specifically pH\, Alkalinity\, and Hardness) and adapt a monitoring plan to better identify sources of nonpoint source pollution. \nJoin us for this one-hour webinar where we will discuss how to adapt your water monitoring plan when you find a water quality issue through water chemistry testing. We will provide an overview of how to use the Online AWW Water Data Tools to understand AWW water chemistry monitoring data\, how to conduct strategic sampling to narrow down potential pollution sources\, and how you can seek out solutions to water quality issues. \nThis webinar will be most applicable to AL Water Watch Water Chemistry Monitors and members of their watershed groups who utilize the data.
