This is an educational\, networking and celebratory event for community and watershed based organizations as well as individual Alabamians interested in #CleanWater and protection of all our waterways. The conference moves to different regions of the state each year so that it is accessible to citizens and groups from all parts of Alabama. DESCRIPTION:Alabama Water Watch Stream Biomonitoring Training – Birmingham \nRegistration is required! \nTraining Description: Become a certified Volunteer Monitor through this hybrid (online and in-person) training opportunity! Available certifications include AWW Stream Biomonitoring. You must complete each of the steps outlined below to receive your monitoring certification. \nProfessional Development Hours are available through PowerSchool for educators who complete training. For more information\, please email awwvolunteers@auburn.edu. \nFollow these steps to get started: \n1.  Register for training through this form by February 27th\, 2024. \n2.  Select the monitoring type(s) for which you would like certification through this form. \nOn February 27th \nParticipate in the Kick-Off Zoom from 12-1 pm. This is not required for certification but will help you navigate the training process and meet AWW Staff. \n\nUse the link and instructions you receive via email following the Kick-Off Zoom to enroll in the Online Courses required for the certification type(s) you requested.\n\nBy Midnight on March 13th \nComplete the self-paced\, online coursework for the monitoring type(s) of interest. \n\nIntroduction to AL Water Watch – This course is required for all monitoring types (1 hour)\n\nOn March 16th\nAttend the in-person Field Day at the Birmingham Zoo where you will demonstrate your ability to conduct monitoring tests under the observation of an AWW Trainer. Participants will be expected to follow CDC guidelines regarding in-person gatherings during the training. \nField Day Schedule: 9am-1pm\n8:45 am Check-In\n9:00 am Stream Biomonitoring Session\n1:00 pm Adjourn \nYou will receive additional details for each of these steps closer to the workshop date. \nOnly your name\, email\, phone number\, and mailing address are required to register for this event. We ask for optional information so we can better understand our effectiveness in serving all Alabama citizens and for reporting general\, anonymous statistics to our federal and state funders.
