DESCRIPTION:Exploring Our Living Streams Educator Workshop \n*Registration priority will be for formal and informal educators and volunteers who plan to conduct environmental education programming with youth.* \nREGISTRATION IS CLOSED \n \nRegistration Fee: $35 \nREGISTER BY FRIDAY\, JUNE 24. Refunds will only be given until Friday\, June 24. \nTrainers: AWW Staff  \nContact Email: awwprog@auburn.edu  \nWorkshop Contact Phone: 334-844-4785  \nWorkshop Date & Location:\n \nWednesday\, June 29\, 2022\n10am – 5pm \nBenjamin Moore\nPell City\, AL \nWorkshop Description: Teachers and informal educators including 4-H Agents are invited to participate in this full day in-person training that will provide hands-on education about volunteer monitoring\, water quality standards\, and water pollution\, and stream biomonitoring as presented in AWW’s curriculum\, Exploring Our Living Streams Curriculum (EOLS). \nThe curriculum correlates to the Alabama Course of Study Standards for Science (Grades 4 and 6)\, Biology (Grades 9-12)\, Environmental Science (Grades 9-12)\, Life Science (Grade 7)\, and Earth Science (Grade 6). \nDuring the workshop\, educators will conduct stream biomonitoring on Fishing Creek in Pell City. \nParticipants will receive: \n\nCertification as an Exploring Our Living Streams Educator\nCertification as an Alabama Water Watch Stream BioMonitor\nCopy of Exploring Our Living Streams: Stream Biomonitoring Curriculum\nAccess to online Digital Resources\nContinuing Education Units from Auburn University and Professional Development Credits through PowerSchool\nLunch during the workshop\n\n\nOn June 14th \nParticipate in the Kick-Off Zoom from 12-1 pm. This is not required for certification but will help you navigate the training process and meet AWW Staff. Use the link and instructions you receive via email following the Kick-Off Zoom to enroll in the Online Course\, Introduction to AL Water Watch (1 hour to complete).\n\nBy Midnight on June 27th\nComplete the self-paced\, online coursework for the Introduction to AL Water Watch.\n\nOn June 29th\nAttend the in-person Field Day at Benjamin Moore in Pell City where you will demonstrate your ability to conduct monitoring tests under the observation of an AWW Trainer.\n\nField Day Schedule: \n9:45 am Check-In\n10:00 am Welcome\, Introductions\, and Overview of 4-H AWW\n10:30 am Practices of Stream Biomonitoring @ the Stream\n12:30 pm Lunch Break & Special Presentation from Benjamin Moore Staff about their Environmental Education Programs\n1:00 pm Principles of Stream Biomonitoring in Classroom\n3:00 pm Activities from EOLS Curriculum\n4:30pm Next Steps\n5:00 pm Wrap Up!\n\nParticipants will be expected to follow COVID-19 guidelines outlined by the CDC during the workshop. \nThe Alabama Cooperative Extension System (Alabama A&M University and Auburn University) is an equal opportunity educator and employer.
