Cattle producers should make plans now to attend the 2017 Alabama Forage Conference Nov. 29 at Lakepoint State Park in Eufaula, Alabama. The conference begins with registration at 8 a.m. and concludes at 3:30 p.m. In addition to the conference, there will be a pre-conference tour of the Wiregrass Research and Extension Center in Headland, Alabama. That tour is set for Nov. 28 from 1:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. Kim Mullenix, an Alabama Extension animal scientist, said that the conference will highlight current research and educational tools that are being used in forages. “Attendees will have the opportunity to see current forage research as well as demonstration projects. They also will learn ways to improve soil and plant health to sustain year-round grazing systems,” said Mullenix. “This conference is also an excellent networking opportunity for forage producers, industry and academia.” Registration will be open until Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. The cost of registeration for both the pre-conference tour and the forage conference is $65 per person. The cost to attend just the forage conference is $50 per person. To register, visit www.bamabeef.org/forage.
